The main objective of this proposal is to point out a few important factors in Gakken's English website design.

First and foremost, Gakken's English website has no mobile version, meaning that the same website we see in a large screen is the same we try to see in a mobile phone or tablet. For various reasons, this is impractical, starting with Google's insistence to migrate all single-screen designed websites to multiple-screen designs so it can index them properly and eventually appear in search results.

For the visitor this means that even if he's using a mobile phone, the design will adapt to make the best use of the reduced space to show better images, more readable text and fluid layouts. This is what is called "responsive design".

The proposal includes a mobile version of the website, very much like its Japanese counterpart behaves, self-adapting its size and text flow depending on the size of the user's device screen.

The website uses the official Gakken colors extensively. However, if possible, I recommend the creation of a Design System that can reflect more accurately the usage of colors, fonts, images and other media in the English language, since the Japanese Design System is somewhat hard to apply in the English material.

The header features two menus. In the desktop version, the left, yellow menu is the main menu that points to features of the company's products. The right menu (the "hamburger" menu), opens the sub-menu, which grants access to various descriptions of the company itself.

The mobile version of the design will be optimized for small screens, and the layout will change accordingly. Although the content will persist among various screen sizes, it is only the presentation that will suffer changes depending on the screen it is displayed in. The menus will be relocated and will rely on the use of icons, which people are prone to recognize and interact with.
